This significant moment was enveloped with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Their first day saw Luisa and her friend’s sister venturing to Ramada. Not accustomed to the posh environment, Luisa was agitated. While Anand ordered a lavish spread, Luisa struggled to calm her worries about the steep cost.
“Do you think we’re gonna pay for this?” Luisa murmured worriedly in Chinese to her friend. Riddled with anxiety over their lack of funds, they even conspired an escape plan. Their relief was immense when Anand, oblivious to their worries, casually settled the bill.

The following day brought them to Luneta Park. Anand began painting a picture of his life in America for Luisa, subtly suggesting a shared future. In line with Filipino culture, Luisa took him to meet her family in Laguna, Philippines. Their meal preparation bore the mark of cultural nuance – they presented hot dogs to their guests, keeping the local dish, Pinakbet, hidden due to its modest nature. However, spurning the hot dogs, Anand preferred to savor the authentic Pinakbet, further emboldening the inter-cultural bond.
